SBI Launches OTP-Based ATM Transactions

In a welcome move State Bank of India (SBI), the country's largest lender, has announced the launch of OTP-based ATM withdrawal to minimize the number of unauthorized transactions taking place at ATMs.

The OTP-based cash withdrawal system will be available across ATMs of State Bank with effect from January 1, 2020, between 8 pm and 8 am. This OTP-based cash withdrawal system will be applicable for transactions above Rs 10,000, SBI said in a press release.

With the introduction of its OTP-based cash withdrawal facility, State Bank ATMs has added another layer of security for cash withdrawals. "Introducing the OTP-based cash withdrawal system to help protect you from unauthorized transactions at ATMs. This new safeguard system will be applicable from 1st Jan, 2020 across all SBI ATMs," SBI tweeted.

The customer will receive the One-time password (OTP) on his / her mobile number registered with the Bank. OTP is a system-generated numeric string of characters that authenticates the user for a single transaction.

The facility will not involve any major change in the process of withdrawing cash from State Bank ATMs.

This facility will not be applicable for transactions, where a State Bank card holder withdraws cash from another bank's ATM, because this functionality has not been developed in National Financial Switch (NFS).

In this process, once the cardholder enters the amount they wish to withdraw, the ATM screen displays the OTP screen. The customer has to input / punch the OTP received on his mobile number registered with the Bank in this screen for getting the cash.

This additional authentication factor will protect the card holders of State Bank from unauthorized ATM cash withdrawals.

Be Very Careful before taking her Advice

As per "Activist" Arundhati Roy, we should provide fake name and address in National Population Register. Why Mrs Roy giving such a statement and whether we should follow her words or not... but Do you know who is Arundhati Roy;

Arundhati Roy is lady who:

- Support for Kashmiri separatism in 2008 and later charged with sedition along with separatist Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani and others by Delhi Police for their "anti-India" speech at a 2010 convention on Kashmir: "Azadi: The Only Way".

- has raised questions about the investigation into the 2001 Indian Parliament attack and the trial of the accused. She had called for the death sentence of Mohammad Afzal to be stayed while a parliamentary enquiry into these questions is conducted.

- argued that the November 2008 Mumbai attacks cannot be seen in isolation, but must be understood in the context of wider issues in the region's history and society such as widespread poverty, the Partition of India and due to gujrat riots.

- has criticised the Indian government's armed actions against the Naxalite-Maoist insurgency in India, calling it "war on the poorest people in the country."

- Roy criticised Anna Hazare and his movement in an opinion piece published in The Hindu. pointing out the campaign's corporate backing, its suspicious timing, Hazare's silence on private-sector corruption, expressing her fear that the Lokpal will only end up creating "two oligarchies, instead of just one"

- called Narendra Modi's nomination as prime minister a "tragedy". She said business houses were supporting his candidacy because he was the "most militaristic and aggressive" candidate.

So be very careful before taking her advice.
