Indian Navy's latest sword arm INS Kohassa commissioned in Andaman and
Nicobar Islands
The Indian Navy on Thursday commissioned the Naval Air Station (NAS)
Shibpur as INS Kohassa in Diglipur, making it the third air base in the far-off
Andaman and Nicobar islands. INS Kohassa was commissioned by Indian Navy Chief
Admiral Sunil Lanba and the grand ceremony was attended by many dignitaries and
senior officials.
A runway strip has been upgraded and converted into a full-fledged air
base in the northern part of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and it has been
named INS Kohassa. Indian Navy will have full command over the new air base,
which will play an important role in strengthening the monitoring capabilities
of the Indian Navy in this part of the Indian Ocean. It is noted that this
region of the Indian Ocean is very critical because it has been witnessing a
lot of muscle-flexing by China

'Looking forward to the day when cricket is included in Olympics':
Sachin Tendulkar
Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar on Tuesday revealed that he
was looking forward to the day when cricket would be included in the Olympics.
Tendulkar made these remarks while addressing a gathering during the book
launch of ‘Dipa Karmakar – The Small Wonder’, the biography of
gymnast Dipa Karmakar.
"Being a cricketer, I have always believed that the game needs to
globalise without any doubt. I had even interacted with Mr. Thomas Bach
(International Olympic Committee President) during the Rio Olympics, over the
issue, expressing my viewpoint that cricket should be included," he
said.
"Mr Bach had expressed his concerns over the inclusion of a game
like cricket which stretches over five days into the Olympics. However, there
are several shorter formats, with cricket being one of the few sports which has
multiple versions."
