India Announces New Rs 20 Coin With A One-Of-A-Kind Shape

New Delhi: The Finance Ministry on Wednesday announced a new coin for Rs 20 which will be shaped like a 27 mm "dodecagon" - a 12-sided polygon.
The Finance Ministry issued a notification announcing the new 20-rupee coin.

Unlike the circular 10-rupee coin, which is also 27 mm in diameter and has 100 serrations on its edge, the 20-rupee coin will not have any marks on its edge.

In crucial meet today, Election Commission set to decide on Lok Sabha election 2019 schedule

NEW DELHI: The Election Commission of India is set to hold a crucial meet on Friday during which the schedule for holding the Lok Sabha election 2019 is most likely to be discussed.

Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora, two Election Commissioners and other top officials of the poll panel will attend the meeting.

Jet Airways operates all-women crew flights on International Women's Day

MUMBAI: On the occasion of International Women’s Day on Friday, Jet Airways-  India's premier full-service international airline - is planning to operate four domestic flights with all-women Cockpit and Cabin Crew members.

These planned domestic flights 9W 346, 9W 355 (Mumbai-Delhi); 9W 358 (Delhi–Mumbai) and 9W 481 (Mumbai–Bengaluru), will be further managed exclusively by all-women teams from a cross-section of the business, including Engineering, Ground Handling, Ground Services, Security and Cabin Appearance Supervisors.

महिला दिवसः जानिए देश की राजनीति में क्या है महिलाओं की स्थिति, आंकड़े चौंकाने वाले हैं

नई दिल्लीः आज अंतर्राष्ट्रीय महिला दिवस है. इस मौके पर हर साल देश में महिलाओं की स्थिति को लेकर कई तरह की बातें की जाती हैं और उनकी आर्थिक, सामाजिक परिस्थितियों को लेकर कई तरह के आंकड़े सामने आते हैं. इस साल भी एडीआर (एसोसिएशन फॉर डेमोक्रेटिक रिफॉर्म्स) और नेशनल इलेक्शन वॉच ने भारतीय राजनीतिक परिप्रेक्ष्य में महिलाओं को लेकर क्या स्थिति है, इसके आंकड़े दिए हैं.

इस रिपोर्ट के तहत महिलाओं और पुरुष उम्मीदवारों के कुल 51,143 हलफनामों की जांच की गई जिसमें देश भर के 4865 सांसद और विधायकों भी शामिल हैं. चौंकाने वाली बात ये है कि देश के कुल 51,143 उम्मीदवारों में से सिर्फ 4173 महिलाएं हैं जो कि इसका 8 फीसदी ही हैं.
