Startup India Scheme is an initiative by the Government of India for generation of employment and wealth creation. The goal of Startup India is the development and innovation of products and services and increasing the employment rate in India. Benefits of Startup India Scheme is Simplification of Work, Finance support, Government tenders, Networking opportunities. Startup India was launched by Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi on 16th January 2016.

 

Under the Startup India initiative, eligible companies can get recognised as Startups by DPIIT, in order to access a host of tax benefits, easier compliance, IPR fast-tracking & more. Learn more about eligibility and benefits below.

 

Is Your Company A Startup…?

 

Your company must meet the following criteria to be considered eligible for DPIIT startup recognition.

 

Company Age :

Period of existence and operations should not be exceeding 10 years from the Date of Incorporation

 

Company Type :

Incorporated as a Private Limited Company, a Registered Partnership Firm or a Limited Liability Partnership

 

Annual Turnover :

Should have an annual turnover not exceeding Rs. 100 crore for any of the financial years since its Incorporation

 

Original Entity :

Entity should not have been formed by splitting up or reconstructing an already existing business

 

Innovative & Scalable :

Should work towards development or improvement of a product, process or service and/or have scalable business model with high potential for creation of wealth & employment

DPIIT recognised startups can get the following benefits under the Startup India Initiative

 

A. Objective

To reduce the regulatory burden on Startups, thereby allowing them to focus on their core business and keep compliance costs low.

 

B. Benefits

- Startups shall be allowed to be self-certify compliance for 6 Labour Laws and 3 Environmental Laws through a simple online procedure.

 

- In the case of labour laws, no inspections will be conducted for a period of 5 years. Startups may be inspected only on receipt of credible and verifiable complaint of violation, filed in writing and approved by at least one level senior to the inspecting officer.

 

- In the case of environment laws, startups which fall under the ‘white category’ (as defined by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB)) would be able to self-certify compliance and only random checks would be carried out in such cases

- The Building and Other Constructions Workers’ (Regulation of Employment & Conditions of Service) Act, 1996

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated the Subhash Chandra Bose museum at Red Fort, marking the 122nd birth anniversary of the leader. The museum, dedicated to Bose and the Indian National Army, was unveiled at 9.30 am.

ICC Awards: Rishabh Pant scoops ICC's Emerging Player of the Year award

Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant was on Tuesday named the International Cricket Council (ICC) Emerging Player of the Year following a stellar performance in his breakthrough 2018 Test year.

Left-handed Pant produced some fine knocks during the voting period that ran from January 1 to December 31, 2018 and getting off the mark in Test cricket with a six only highlighted his potential. He scored 537 runs, including a century and two fifties in eight Tests he played. Meanwhile, Pant also grabbed 40 catches and two stumpings.

In three ODIs, the Indian cricketer scored 41 runs and took three catches and in eight T20Is scored 114 runs and pouched two catches.

India crush New Zealand by 8 wickets in first ODI after sun-induced stoppage

India produced cricket of the calibre that has become synonymous with Virat Kohli's men to crush New Zealand by eight wickets in the first ODI but a bizarre and unprecedented sun-induced interruption overshadowed the on-field action at McLean Park in Napier on Wednesday.

Entering the five-match rubber following maiden Test and ODI series triumphs in Australia, India signalled their intent with a clinical display, which saw them chase down a revised target of 156 by eights wickets in 34.5 overs.

The Duckworth-Lewis method came into the picture for an interruption which was not caused by rain for the first time.

7.32 lakh jobs created in November; 73.50 lakh in last 15 months: EPFO payroll data

New Delhi: Employment generation in the formal sector increased by 48 percent to touch a 15-month high of 7.32 lakh in November 2018 as compared to 4.93 lakh in the year ago month, according to the latest EPFO payroll data.

Around 73.50 lakh new subscribers were added to social security schemes of the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) from September 2017 to November 2018, the data showed. This indicates that these many jobs were created in the last 15 months.

The EPFO, however, revised downwards its payroll data for October 2018 to 6.66 lakh against the earlier estimate of 8.27 lakh. It also revised the cumulative job addition data from September 2017 to October 2018 downwards 16.4 percent to 66.18 lakh from earlier forecast of 79.16 lakh.

Google restricts apps from using access permission via SMS, calls

San Francisco: Google has now restricted the use of high-risk and sensitive permissions via SMS and phone calls for apps on PlayStore as part of its recent policy change that now requires apps to be verified manually by the search engine giant.

The company has declared March 9 as the deadline for developers whose apps already include these permissions to either file a declaration confirming their app requires these permissions for core functionality, submit a request application for more time allotment to bring their app into compliance, or remove the permissions from their apps immediately.

"Apps that fail to meet policy requirements or submit a declaration form may be removed from Google Play," the company wrote in a post late on Monday.

Colonel Ranveer Singh Jamwal becomes first Army officer to scale 6 peaks of 6000 metre in 10 days

In a first for the Indian Army, an officer made a landmark achievement after he scaled six mountain peaks of at least 6,000 metre (20,000 feet) in 10 days. 

The feat was achieved by Colonel Ranveer Singh Jamwal who scaled mountain peaks-- Copiapo of 6,050 metre, San Francisco of 6,016metre, Incahuasi of 6,627 metre, Ermitanio 6,187 metre, Ojos del Salado of 6,893 metre, and Tres cruces south of 6,742 metre.

Government to shift financial year to January-December, announcement likely soon

New Delhi: The government will shift the financial year to January-December, from the current April-March pattern. The move is aimed to align it with the agriculture production cycle.

An announcement regarding this is likely to be made soon as per Cogencis sources.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had backed the idea of the January-December financial year last year while addressing chief ministers at the Governing Council of NITI Aayog. Modi had said that in a country where agricultural income is exceedingly important, budgets should be prepared immediately after the receipt of agricultural incomes for the year.

And with the monsoon arriving in June, most of the schemes and spendings by states did not take off until October, leaving just half a year for their implementation.

Virat Kohli scripts history, makes clean sweep of ICC awards

Indian skipper Virat Kohli has become the first player in history to win the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for the Intenational Cricket Council (ICC) Cricketer of the Year, the Men’s Test Player of the Year and the ODI Player of the Year awards following an extraordinary 2018.

Not only is Kohli the first player to win these three major ICC awards together, but he has also been named the captain of the ICC Test and ODI teams of the year for a fabulous run in the international cricket.

Kohli scored a total of 1,322 runs at an average of 55.08 in 13 Tests with five hundreds during the calendar year, while in 14 ODIs he amassed 1,202 runs at an astonishing average of 133.55 with six centuries. He also scored 211 runs in 10 T20Is.

Indian Army to host 12 African nations for 10-day field exercise to counter China

In view of the increasing influence of China on African nations, the Indian Army is set to launch a first-of-its-kind Indo-African Field Exercise. The exercise is expected to see the participation of 12 African nations, including Egypt, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. The event will be organised from March 18 to March 27 in Maharashtra’s Pune.

Though India has always maintained good relations with African nations, there has been considerable increase in Chinese involvement in the region in the past decade. The same became even more noticeable in 2018 when the China built a Naval base in Djibouti, a country in East Africa.

WhatsApp rolls out 5-chat message forwarding limit globally

New Delhi: Aiming to curb fake news, Facebook-owned platform WhatsApp on Monday announced it has globally lowered to five the forward limit for chats -- a feature first launched in India last July.

"Starting today, WhatsApp will be implementing this change, globally i.e. all users on the latest versions of WhatsApp can now forward to only five chats at once," the Facebook-owned platform said in a blog post.

Earlier, the company allowed users globally to forward messages for up to 20 chats (either individuals or groups).

"The new change will continue to help keep WhatsApp focused on private messaging with close contacts," it added.

15th Pravasi Bharteey Diwas: India to issue chip-based e-passport, says PM Narendra Modi

Varanasi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced that the centre will soon be issuing chip enabled e-passports. While addressing the Pravasi Bharatiya Sammelan in Varanasi, his parliamentary constituency, PM Modi said that the government is making an effort to simplify all processes related to passports, visas, PIOs and OCI cards along with social security.

"Our embassies and consulates are being connected to the Passport Seva Project worldwide," Modi said.

PM Modi further added “It will prepare a centralised system for passport-related services for all. Taking a step forward, work is now under way to issue chip-based e-passports.”

The prime minister was inaugurating the 15th Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas convention in his parliamentary constituency Varanasi. For the first time, the three-day convention is being organised from January 21 to 23 instead of January 9 to allow participants to visit the Kumbh Mela in Allahabad and attend the Republic Day parade in the national capital. The theme of this year's convention is 'Role of Indian diaspora in building new India'.

Kohli, Williamson shower praises on each other ahead of first ODI 

Unlike the Australia series in which Virat Kohli and Tim Paine were at each other’s face right from the word go, India’s New Zealand tour has started on a friendly note as both Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson went on a mutual admiration spree ahead of the first ODI at Napier on Wednesday.

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson stated that Kohli is one player he admires the most. "Someone like Virat is certainly a player I admire and enjoy watching and he's pushing the boundaries of the game so that's brilliant," said Williamson

He said Kohli was a passionate and world-class cricketer.

"He's a respectful guy and I've known him for a very long time but as a player, obviously, word class.”

Williamson, however, made it very clear that their plan is to combat Kohli and get him out as early as possible. “Our focus is more about that and his cricketing ability and how we can combat him as best as we can," Williamson said.
