The 60s so far had been rather tumultuous – the country had fought a war each with China and Pakistan, Jawaharlal Nehru had died paving the way for the rise of Indira Gandhi, the Green Revolution has begun to show its benefits but was still at a nascent stage, the anti-Hindi agitation in Madras began to look ominous, and there were early signs of a threatening Naxal movement.
Between the election in 1962 and 1967, India faced grave dangers and some of its most significant policies – domestic and international – looked like it would come apart at the seams.

Indian defence helicopter pilots to soon get Israeli Helmet Mounted Display System
Indian defence forces will soon get the state-of-art Helmet Mounted Display System (HMDS)/Helmet Pointing System (HPS) Version 02 for their pilots flying rotary wing platforms (helicopters). Navratna Defence Public Sector Unit (PSU) Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and Israel's Elbit Systems Limited entered into a Technical Collaboration Agreement (TCA) during the February 20-24 Aero India 2019 in Bengaluru to manufacture the helmets for the helicopter pilots of the Indian Navy and other armed forces

Sparks in third rail hit Kolkata Metro services
Kolkata: Metro Railway services were disrupted for more than hour Thursday morning after sparks were seen flying from the third rail near Dumdum station, an official said. According to Kolkata Metro spokesperson Indrani Banerjee, the sparks were noticed at 8.25am when a down train from Noapara was approaching the Dumdum station.
"Power supply to the third rail was immediately stopped and passengers were evacuated from the train. They were then escorted to the platform at Dumdum by the Metro railway officials," she said.
Hundreds of inconvenienced passengers were seen waiting outside Metro stations during the rush hour, frantically trying to hop on a public transport to reach their destination.

Centre approves three new corridors under Delhi Metro's Phase 4 project
The Centre approved Delhi Metro's Phase -4 projects on Thursday. The projects chosen under the fourth phase include the Aero City-Tughlakabad, Janakpuri West-RK Ashram, Mukundpur-Maujpur sections.
Informing about the same, PIB spokesperson Sitanshu Kar said that there'll be 17 underground and 29 elevated stations along the 61.679 km the corridors. There are 15 stations between Aerocity to Tughlakabad, 25 stations between R K Ashram to Janakpuri West and six stations between Maujpur and Mukundpur.
