Lok Sabha Election 2019: PM Modi, Mamata to launch poll campaign in West Bengal today
Kolkata: The battle of Bengal is all set to heat up with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Trinamool Congress president Mamata Banerjee kickstarting their campaign Wednesday in the state that sends third largest number of Lok Sabha members to Parliament.
While Modi will address a rally at Siliguri, Banerjee will hold her first public meeting for the general elections in the state at Dinhata, both in North Bengal.
Political circles are agog that a war of words are on the cards with Mamata Banerjee deciding to hold her public rally on the same day the Prime Minister will commence his campaign in the state.

WTO predicts slowdown in global trade in 2019-20, may impact India's export
New Delhi: The World Trade Organisation (WTO) has predicted the global trade will continue to face strong headwinds this year and in 2020 after growing slowly-than-expected in 2018. This may also impact India's exports, WTO said. It stated the rising trade tensions and increased economic uncertainty as the reasons behind the slowdown.
In a statement on Tuesday WTO said, "WTO economists expect merchandise trade volume growr cent in 2020; however, this is dependent on an th to fall to 2.6 per cent in 2019 down from 3 per cent in 2018. Trade growth could then rebound to 3 peeasing of trade tensions."
WTO's statement came at a time when India is taking various steps to boost exports. Slowdown in global trade could impact India's exports. The preliminary estimate of 3 per cent for world trade growth in 2018 is below the WTO's recent forecast of 3.9 per cent issued last September, it added.

Indian Army destroys 7 Pakistan military posts, inflicts several casualties
JAMMU: Retaliating to the continued ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops, the Indian Army on Tuesday destroyed their seven military posts across the Line of Control. India's retaliatory firings also inflicted several casualties also on Pakistani troops.
Seven Pakistani posts across the LoC in Rakhchakri and Rawalkot forward areas of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) were destroyed, PTI quoted officials as saying. There have been several causalities also on the Pakistani side, they said.

Sensex hits record closing high, surges 185 points
Mumbai: Rising for the fourth session in a row, the BSE benchmark Sensex Tuesday added another 185 points to hit an all-time closing high of 39,056 and the NSE Nifty closed above the key 11,700-level on intense buying mainly in auto, IT and banking stocks amid hopes of RBI rate cut.
Tata Motors drove the Sensex rally for the second session in a row, surging over 8 percent. Other top gainers were Bharti Airtel, TCS, Bajaj Finance, PowerGrid, IndusInd Bank and State Bank of India -- rising as much as 5 percent.
